“You are the owner of nothing, the steward of everything.”
I’ll have more to say on this later, but this quote was the reminder I needed last week when we had to unexpectedly drop a lot of dolla bills on a car repair. Forgive me, but I am only 90% positive this quote came from the podcast Love Thy Neighborhood: Where the Gospel Meets Consumerism. Right or wrong, you should give this episode a listen.
I never watch TV, unless it’s something the kids are watching. I just can’t tolerate most of what’s in new shows these days, and I also don’t want my kids seeing or hearing it either. However, I was recently at home by myself and decided to start Palm Royale on Apple TV. Kristen Wiig? Allison Janney? Josh Lucas? CAROL BURNETT? RICKY MARTIN? What a smorgasbord of a cast! It’s a drama, but Kristen Wiig’s character still makes me laugh. I started it while working on a research paper for grad school so I’m certain there are some important details I’ve missed. But, it’s a show I can have running in the background and be distracted but still have a basic idea of what’s going on. I’ve heard a few f bombs but nothing super inappropriate…yet. Maybe I can stick with it, although it may take me years to finish the show. I’m watching episode 3 as I type.
I’ve been on a journey. A foot pain relief journey if you will. I used to think it was because I was on my feet all day teaching, and I’m sure that is a large part of it. But, lately, my feet have hurt so bad that imagining myself stepping on Legos or needles has seemed like relief. The pain has been keeping me up at night. I’m not about to go to a doctor over this, BUT, thanks to the Googles, I’ve been able to self-diagnose with a low percentage of accuracy. I have flat-ish feet and maybe plantar fasciitis? I couldn’t be in the military, although I think flat feet would be far down on the list of things keeping me from enlisting. Due to the pain, I’ve been on a bit of a shopping spree on Amazon trying to find the relief I need. I’ve purchased two different styles of foot rollers with spiky things and a foot squeezer thingy, all with zero success in providing relief. My current attempt at foot pain relief is copper infused compression arch support sleeves. I bought them in a pretty pink color, because fashion matters when you’re wearing compression sleeves on your feet. They were literally just delivered and they’ve been on my feet for no more than 60 seconds, but I can feel the copper compression working its magic. I’ll be darned if this is what I’ve needed all this time.
